QR codes have been fitted into our cars allowing customers to scan and send tracking information to loved ones. Plus there’s live reporting to our call centre if any issues may arise.
It’s simple and easy to use just hover your phone camera over the Ride Protect card and then follow the link!
We hope to put these in all of cars once the trial is over.

Southend Airport!
As of Thursday 22nd AC Taxis as the official taxi supplier to London Southend Airport, have been given a discounted rate for any of our customers who wish to be dropped off outside the main terminal. This rate is 50% cheaper than the standard rate so if you would like to be dropped off outside the terminal we can do this for the cheaper rate of £1.50! The driver will take this fee and pass it on to the Airport so you as the customer do not have to do anything just start to enjoy your holiday! If you wish not to pay the charge we can drop you off anywhere you like outside the airport grounds.

You can now register your card to the APP!
*Please make sure that the address your card is registered to is the same address you put in when registering your card on the APP*
Your card will get debited every time you leave the vehicle, just go to ‘Payment Method’ and select ‘Card’.

AC's 50th Birthday!
On Monday 14th January it was AC's 50th Birthday. Even though it originally formed in 1957 by Alec Collision but became AC Radio Cabs offically in 1969 when a consortium of drivers decided to buy him out. (Read more about AC's history in the History section on our website!)

Throughout the month June we have been running a little promotion to help raise money for the Neptune Ward!
Everytime you made a taxi booking through our App 10p from that booking would go towads the the Neptune Ward at Southend Hospital. By doing this we managed to raise an amazing £900.80! Thank you to everyone who took part and our AC drivers who decided to contribute to this and pushed to total to £1000.80!

We have welcomed a new member of the team to regularly update and manage our social media and website so keep an eye out for a variety of content including competitions and give our new Instagram and Twitter a follow! @ac_taxis on both sites.

New App Updates! Customers can now use the Track your Car feature to keep an eye out for your taxi live or use the buddy system to allow a friend or family member to track you in the vehicle (personal choice), this is aided by the push notifications that when turned on can allow live updates on the status of your car. The option to pay by credit card is now viable with a minimum fare of £6. Of course there will be no waiting in phone queues and the option to save your home address will be avaliable too!

This month we have updated our system so that we can offer the same Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system on mobiles as well as the landlines (which has been working successfully on for nearly 2 years now) the IVR system gives you 2 options which is the 2 most popular places that you have ordered an AC cab from if you wish to talk to an operator simply press 9 or hold.

AC Taxis are now taking Chip and Pin, Contactless and Apple Pay in some of our vehicles. Not all of our vehicles take these method of payments so you must request this Service when booking.

AC Taxis is now an official MIDAS PATS training school we can now train and license Passenger Assistance (escorts).

ACs are pleased to announce a new service which started last week, the service is called Driver to Passenger calling and operates as follows, when a driver is allocated your booking, now with this new service our driver will be able to call the customer direct which will mean if he has had to pull further along the road or round the corner because of parking restriction he will be able to direct you to him, Please rest assured that at no time will your phone number be shown to our drivers as when he makes the call it comes to our office first it is then our system that makes the call to you and connects you to each other.
We do hope as we believe this will add to improving even further our commitment and service to you.

Launch of Buddy system on our app. We are pleased to announce the Buddy system is now working on our App. All you have to do is put in a chosen phone number into the settings of your 334455 App and our system will automatically send your buddy a text with a link, this link will mean your buddy can track your movements. AC 334455 the safest way home.

Southend Hospital
AC Taxis has successfully secured the Contract for Southend hospital for the next 4 years.
This means that we have exclusive rights to the hospitals private rank, and no other Taxi or private hire vehicle/circuit can solicit work from the rank.
Traditionally AC Taxis has always enjoyed the contract however it was always a yearly contract that was reviewed each year and I belived the timing was right to button now the commercial aspects and secure a long term contract/relationship.
This the Hospital agreed too and entered into a public contract procument process which is why the decision took so long to reach.
We clearly have won this on merit and a massive thank you from me to all the Subscribers,Drivers,Staff and management who all played their part in allowing Ac Taxis to secure this contract on a long term bases.
Whilst this is great news we must not rest on our laurels, we all need to be aware that our performance is being measured on a monthly bases and the management have to report too the hospital every month with the results of our performance ( the agreed KPI).
So that we are all aware of what we will be measured against I have listed the criteria below;

Our IVR (Interactive Voice Response) is now working, when you call us on a landline you will get the option to just press the number 1 button and it sends a car direct and immediately to the address read out to you.

We have started our car installations, soon all our vehicles will be fitted out with our new state of the art system, and then the ACs App and Webooker will be live for all our customers to use.

We have been granted change of use for our new Taxi call Centre.
This means we will take occupation on Monday the 23rd June and the refurbishment will start the same day.
The refurbishment schedule is 4/6 weeks at which point we will go live and switch on our new dispatch system.
We can now start our lead-in program to the system live date.

Our new software supplier Cordic have developed some intuitive safety features to ensure customers get into the right vehicle and can let others know where they are and when to expect to arrive at their desired destination. Details of the driver, their photo & badge number are displayed, along with details of the vehicle: colour, make, model and registration which are also sent via a separate text message to the customer. Users can track their booked vehicle on a map and can contact the driver directly by calling or sending a message via the app.
The customer can choose a “Buddy*” from their list of phone contacts; their Buddy will automatically be sent a text message which includes a tracking link so they can follow their friend, colleague or child on a tracking map whilst in the booked vehicle. If a customer hasn’t selected a “Buddy” but wants to send details of where they are to a friend whilst in the vehicle, perhaps to let them know they are running late, they can click on the “Track Me” button and they can send their GPS position and tracking map to a friend, colleague or parent.
The app also includes a “Book Return” feature which allows the customer to easily book a return journey at the tap of a button.

Mayhem Vouchers, from April 2014 our Mayhem Taxi Vouchers will not only get you £2 discount on your entry but you can also jump the queue.
Legends/Mansion is no longer part of the Mayhem group, so our vouchers can only be used at Mayhem.
This month one of our drivers & the ACs office staff ended up being hero’s, after taking a call the duty staff in the office suspected something was dodgy with a job to deliver a parcel to London, the office relayed there suspicions to the driver which after picking up the package he agreed with the office. The office and the driver then decided to contact the police, the Police decided to take this serious and asked the driver to take the package to the local police station. We have later found out it was an old ladies life savings that someone had conned her out off, this is an ongoing investigation called operation Seaford. Please be careful.
